Turkey Cupcakes

I was asked to help make half (my share was about 4 dozen) of the cupcakes for Cub Scout Pack Meeting this last week. We decided to go with a Thanksgiving theme and decorate them like little turkeys.
Given that they were for a bunch of cub scouts I had no problems with boxed cake mix and canned chocolate frosting.

I used candy corns for the tail feathers and beaks. I used large gumdrops for the head, and using a paring knife, I carved out a little hole in the top just big enough to fit a candy corn in. I cut thin strips of a roll of Fruit by the Foot to make the waddle which stuck easily to the beak, then dabbed little eyeballs on using black gel icing.

Maddie doesn't like candy corns, so she created her own turkey using the Starburst I bought Christopher to keep him happy while I worked on my turkeys. I let her take the picture since she it was her creation.
