Peanut Butter Jumbles

The other day my oldest was bored and instead of turning to the TV (which happens 99% of the time) he turned to the kitchen and requested to be able to make something. He really liked these Peanut Butter Jumbles the last time I made them, so I thought we'd try our luck with these. They are about as difficult to make as Rice Krispy Treats. He did a really good job and was very proud of himself. Madison even enjoyed them, even though she "hates peanut butter!". Zach, however, refused to try them because they were made from Cheerios, and he has a weird aversion to cold cereal in any shape and form.

Peanut Butter Jumbles

1/2 cup light Karo
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter
3 1/2 cups cereal (Cheerios)

Heat Karo and sugar until sugar dissolves, add peanut butter, mix well until thin enough to coat cereal. Add Cheerios. Stir until thoroughly coated. Drop by spoonful onto wax paper.
Makes 18-24 (depending on size)

Yummy, my kids love those things, but our recipe uses honey instead of caro syrup & there may accidentally be a few chocolate chips that fall in there at the end. Dan's mom taught me to throw a little wheat germ in there too. Kind of sneaky of her, but I love it.
