Awesomest brownie pan ever.

My youngest brother got upset with me when I ate the edges (and only the edges) from a pan of brownies, so for his birthday I bought him the most ingenious thing since the invention of the brownie.

You are guaranteed at least two edges with each brownie. How awesome is that?

Why a food blog?

Sometimes when I tell people I have a food blog I feel like I'm bragging or something. Like I think I am some kind of cooking or baking guru, which is so far from the truth it's ridiculous. I love cooking and especially baking, and my biggest secret when it comes to that is collecting really good recipes. So I started this blog for several reasons. First and foremost, my kids have requested on several occasions that when they grow up, they'd like a copy of my recipes. Some day down the road I plan on having this blog published and then I will be able to give my kids their own books full of their favorite recipes. Secondly, it encourages me to branch out and try new things. I get stuck in a rut, and tend to make the same things over and over again. And last but not least, I do get the occasional request for a specific recipe (mostly the sugar cookie one) and now I can just say "I have this food blog..."

I have no professional culinary experience, no formal training, just an at-home-on-the-job-learn-from-my-mistakes education. Most of what I know I learned from my mother and my grandmother. For me the first step in cooking is to start with a good recipe. I envy people who can just "fly by the seat of their pants" and just create yummy things.

Oh, and I'm no food photographer, a fact that is glaringly apparent in most of these posts, but I figure bad visuals are better than none at all.
