Every once in awhile my kids pull down some of the "kid friendly" cookbooks off the shelf and beg me to let them make something. This recipe comes from the Better Homes and Gardens New Junior Cook Book. They had to wait a day, because refrigerated cookie dough is not something I generally keep around. If I'm going to eat crappy sugar cookies, I'll just save myself the time and effort and buy them already baked. Despite that, (and the fact that this is a Christmas/Winter recipe) I caved and let the kids make them (even though I ended up doing most of the work)
They really wanted me to add this recipe to my blog, so Nick took a bunch of pictures to share-
Snowman Cookies
1 tube refrigerated cookie dough
2 cups confectioners' sugar
2-3 Tbs milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
candies to decorate with. (use your imagination)
Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. Open package of cookie dough and place it on cutting board. Use a sharp knife to cut into equal (approx. 1 oz. pieces- 18 oz. tube- 18 equal pieces) Using one dough piece, make 3 balls- one large, one medium, one small. Arrange the balls about 1/4 inch apart in a snowman shape on ungreased cookie sheet. Repeat with remaining dough pieces. Place the snowmen 2 inches apart so the cookies don't bake together.

Put cookie sheet in oven. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are very light brown. Cool on cookie sheet for 3 minutes then transfer to cooling rack.

For icing put the powdered sugar, vanilla, and 1 Tbs. of milk in a bowl. Stir to combine. Stir in additional milk, 1 tsp. at a time to make icing of drizzling consistency. Drizzle icing over cooled snowmen. Decorate as desired.
