The Candy Bible

I think my grandmother is worrying that she will be headed on "her big trip" very soon (that's how she refers to dying) because she's starting to find homes for her prized possessions. This summer I was the recipient of two books- her copy of my parent's wedding album, and her candy bible.
It's awesome. It's 40 years old, held together with a big rubber band, red sandwich baggie twist-ties, and stuffed in a Ziploc bag for good measure. She got it from some lady she lived near in 1969. It's even autographed.
And it says stuff like- "The amateur candy maker can really offer delicious confections using these recipes. It also takes skill to make up an array of home made candies on a tray. Use the nicest tray you have to display your candies; by doing so your time, energy and expense is negligible compared to the thrill of seeing an attractive display of your own making."

Like I said, it's awesome.

No, seriously though, I think candy making is a lost art and I am really excited to inherit this book. Hopefully it and I will have many happy years working together to enlarge not only my butt, but every one else's around me.

Her last name was Rees, so I'm thinking you need to pass it along to a REAL descendant. He he.

What was Grammy teaching you how to make in the picture? I can't imagine what that book will look like when it's time for you to pass it on to YOUR granddaughter. :)

Jill- she was teaching us to make divinity. It was a comedy of errors. she doesn't use the recipe in the book, she uses the one in her head and after awhile she ended up calling her friend Linda because she couldn't remember the recipe.
